White Nights is a time of euphoria and endless all-night parties, as Russia -- and the world’s -- most northern city encounters its annual natural wonder: by day, the city basks in the glorious summer sunshine and by night, the sky is lit up with the pearlescent hues of a sun that barely sets.
This year, celebrations will take place from June 11-July 2, where clubs, bars, restaurants, and concert halls will host a stream of allnight events under the light night skies as the sun does not descend below the horizon enough for the sky to grow dark. There are even a number of stellar performances in the Palace Square; where artists such as Paul McCartney and the Rolling Stones have previously performed.
